Agreement between FIT and EST, April 1994 Articles of Cooperation drawn up between European Society for Translation Studies - EST and Fédération internationale des traducteurs - FIT The Fédération internationale des traducteurs (FIT) and the European Society for Translation Studies (EST), Considering the importance of translation and interpretation in an increasingly interdependent world, Considering the need for cooperation among translators and interpreters as well as researchers engaged in the field of translation studies in order to enhance the professional standing and public appreciation of translation and interpretation, and Considering the desirability of a close interlinkage between research, teaching and practice in the field of translation and interpretation, Considering that FIT's commitment to promote training and research worldwide coincides with EST's own mandate, hereby agree:
This agreement shall remain in effect until terminated in writing by either party. April 15, 1994.
Protocol of Understanding between The Canadian Association For Translation Studies - CATS and The European Society for Translation Studies - EST Preamble The Canadian Association for Translation Studies (CATS) and the European Society for Translation Studies (EST) share common goals in developing the discipline of translation studies. These goals include: 1) to promote research in translation, writing, terminology, interpretation and other fields related to the study of interlinguistic and intercultural communication; 2) to provide a framework for the scholarly discussion of issues related to the teaching and pedagogy of translation studies; 3) to encourage the diffusion of research in translation studies. To foster closer links between the two associations with a view to furthering the international exchange of research on translation studies, CATS and EST wish, through this protocol of understanding, to formalise institutional links between their associations. Protocol By virtue of this protocol, the Canadian Association for Translation Studies and the European Society for Translation Studies undertake:
This protocol will take effect on the date signed by the mandated representative of each association, and will remain in effect until one or other of the associations requests its abrogation.
