Society for Translation Studies, is an international society of
translation and interpreting scholars. Its activities are devoted to Translation
Studies, the name now given in English to academic reflection and research
around translation and language interpreting (traductologie, Übersetzungswissenschaft, traductología
are names given to the same discipline in French, German and Spanish
respectively). EST was

the EST Newsletter twice a year. It cooperates with universities
and other bodies, in particular in the production of the Translation
Studies Bibliography, has established links with other translators’ and
translation scholars’ bodies (Agreements) and with other
organizations, including publishers and universities (John Benjamins
and Multilingual Matters offer special discounts for EST Members). EST has set
up a summer school scholarship program, a Young
Scholar Award, an EST Translation Studies Literature
Grant, a TS Event Grant, and is
supporting and/or sponsoring various research and research training

ours in developing this young discipline. This site was
designed and is maintained in the EST spirit of serving the TS community.
Besides information on EST, it provides online resources, including
information on recent publications, announcements and contributions on
research issues. This site is
designed to serve the TS community at large with a special thought to young
scholars, students and colleagues who do not have easy access to guidance and
to the literature. In order to do the best possible job, we would be most
grateful if visitors could tell us who they are, what sections of the site
they found useful and what their wishes are. Please respond to daniel.gile@yahoo.com. |
