EST signs agreement with the European Association for Studies in Screen Translation (ESIST)

The protocol of understanding recognizes the common aims and interests of the two organizations.

ESIST was established in 1995 as a non-profit making association of higher education teachers, practitioners, academics and students in the field of audiovisual translation. It was set up to facilitate the exchange of information and to promote professional standards in the training and practice of screen translation.

The agreement was signed by Jan Pedersen, President of ESIST, and Anthony Pym, President of the EST, in December 2010. It opens the way for exchanges of information and reciprocal attendance at conferences. It is also designed to raise awareness of screen translation as one of the most important areas for research in the contemporary cultural environment.
